Did you know there are 480M deaf and hard of hearing people in the world? Nobody talks about it because hearing problems are invisible. People often hide hearing aids because they perceive hearing aids make them look broken. Or do they?

Hearing loss can impact anyone. You can be born with deafness or hearing loss, become deaf or hard of hearing through illness, and lose 1 hearing by accident, progressive disease, or by aging. You can be a student, attorney, or a celebrity and have an invisible disability and a hidden hearing aid nobody knows about. People often feel stigmatized with hearing aids, which is a paradox when comparing bad hearing to bad eyesight. There’s no shame in wearing glasses - but people often grow hair over hearing aids or otherwise hide them. Glasses can be a fashion accessory that elevate your style, but hearing aids still look like a medical device. It’s time we change this.

Personalizing design in hearing aids significantly improves self-image and self-confidence of hearing aid users. Hearing aid stigma is one of the major problems Deafmetal solves: Deafmetal changes the lifestyle of hearing aids users by offering designs that allow hearing aids to augment an individual’s personal style.

Deafmetal also shifts the focus from the medical device and the disability to the person. It provides a much needed point of conversation entry – hearing people often avoid conversation with a hearing aid user but cannot stop themselves from commenting when they notice, “cool earrings!” Such a seemingly small conversation entry breaks through social barriers that often keep hearing aid users isolated.

DEAFMETAL® Community has two missions:
1. Live full with you hearing problem. Deafmetal helps you to tune up your hearing aid to look like you!
2. Prevent your hearing loss. Deafmetal helps you to hear longer!

Hearing problems are not nice, I know (just read my story). In between quiet conversations with other people hearing loss increases sad and annoying things like head aches, social exclusion, unemployment, and loss of income. So, we should really take care of our sense of hearing a bit more. Prevent it. And if you have it, live with it. This is what #deafmetalcommunity is all about!

Deafmetal has an audience all around the world. Our mission is to reach all the hard of hearing people and the ones in the danger zone of hearing loss - yes, might be you!

Deafmetal Community is a tool for all of us harf of hearing people to help change attitude against hearing device stigma. Deafmetal Community can also also prevent having hearing loss by spreading the word.

WHO (World Health Organization) estimates hearing loss will grow to 900M in the next thirty years. Aging and noise pollution play the main roles in hearing loss. Deafmetal advocates for wiser hearing habits by collaborating with musicians, bands, and artists. They are the right influencers to teach audiences about hearing damage.

Deafmetal is friends with Kuuloliitto ry (Hearing Association of Finland), Suomen Audionomiyhdistys (Audiology Association of Finland) and also with Finnish Musicians Association (Muusikkojen liitto).

CONFIRMATION EMAIL

You will receive a confirmation email after your purchase. If you have not received a confirmation email within 3 working days from your purchase, kindly contact us at info(at)gtie.fi. Kindly check that the order information is correct.

PAYMENT

All the payments of DEAFMETAL® online store are managed by Checkout Finland.

Checkout is a secure payment method for you. We have a payment management license issued by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority. The service is maintained by Checkout Finland Ltd (Business ID 2196606-6) and Checkout Finland Oy is part of OP Group.

The Checkout Payments Service passes your payment to the merchant. If you see Checkout Finland Oy on your bank statement or credit card statement, we have provided your payment. The e-shop acts as a marketer for products and services and as a product supplier for the customer. The e-shop is responsible for the statutory and other obligations of the retailer. If you want to advertise or return your product, you should be in direct contact with the online store where the product was ordered.

Bank Payments 
You have the payment buttons for all Finnish banks. You can pay with the payment buttons of Aktia, Danske Bank, Handelsbank, Nordea, Oma Säästöpankki, Osuuspankki, POP-pankki, Säästöpankki, S-pankki and Ålandsbanken.

As a payee for your account, Checkout Finland Oy will display your payment to your online merchant. From the online store you are directed directly to your bank to make payment safely.

Checkout Finland also offers the option to pay via the bank transfer form.

Credit card payments 
You can pay online with Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, MasterCard and Debit MasterCard. Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode authentication services are used online. Checkout appears as a payee with a card payment and passes the payment card payment paid by the customer directly to the merchant. Card payments are secured by a secure payment form, and payment card information is not stored in e-commerce systems.

Mobile Payment 
Mobile Payments Pivo, MobilePay, and Masterpass are service-based services that can pay for online purchases as a bank account or as a card payment by accepting a payment in that application. In addition, you will be able to complete the Transfer Fees so that the payment can be accepted in any application that supports the Migration.

DELIVERY

Delivery time and price varies between countries. If the processing of the order is delayed, we will inform you.

Please note that during sales period delivery times may exceed the estimated time.

Finland
Shipping to your nearest Post office, delivery cost 5,00€. Order will be delivered within 5 working days from the day the order is placed. 

Local pick up from our workshop in Hämeenlinna (Raatihuoneenkatu 21, 13100, Hämeenlinna, Finland) free of charge 0,00€.

Europe
Shipping with Postnord DHL, delivery cost 15,00€. Order will be delivered within 5 working days from the day the order is placed.

Overseas (e.g. United States, Japan)
Shipping with DHL, delivery cost 20,00€. Order will be delivered within 5 working days from the day the order is placed.

Please note; Outside of European Union, you are liable for all import duties, customs and local sales taxes levied by the country you reside in; payment of these is necessary to release your order from customs on arrival.

gTIE Oy or DEAFMETAL® cannot be held responsible for any damage or losses of goods by the delivery company.

Exchange and return
You can exchange or return the ordered item. In Finland you have 14 working days time to return the goods from the day you have received them. Outside Finland you have 7 working days time to return the goods from the day you have received them. Kindly notice that you will have to pay for the shipping costs for the return package. gTIE Oy will not refund the original shipping costs unless the item you have received is faulty or damaged.

Items should be returned new, unused and in the same condition as you received them. Returns that are damaged, soiled or altered will not be accepted and will be sent back to the customer. Items should be returned in their original packaging to ensure they are adequately protected in transit. Returns will be processed within 1-3 working days, from the day we have received the returned item.

How to return the item
1. Fill out the exchange/return form and if possible inform us through info@gtie.fi about the return.

2. Pack the item you want to return carefully and make sure the filled out exchange/return form is inside the package.

3. Send the package to our address gTIE Oy, Raatihuoneenkatu 21, 13100 HÄMEENLINNA, Finland and ship it on your own expense.

Refunds
Please note that card refunds may take up to 10 business days for your bank to complete, depending on their processing time. This can vary greatly between card issuers, and unfortunately we are unable to influence this.

If your order has been sent to a destination within the EU, all sales taxes will be refunded. Outside the EU, customs duties and sales taxes are non-refundable through gTIE Oy. However, you may be able to recover these by contacting your local customs bureau directly.

SECURITY

The web pages where you as a customer insert payment details are secure pages. Most web browsers use symbols to show that you are visiting a secure web page. The personal details given will be only used by gTIE Oy in order to fulfill your order.

FORCE MAJEURE

If gTIE Oy fails to comply with the argument because of unusual adverse circumstances outside of its control due to force majeure such as strikes, civil unrest, war or natural catastrophes, then gTIE Oy cannot be held responsible.

You must not misuse the website. You must not commit or encourage a criminal offence, transmit or distribute virus or any other material, which is malicious, technologically harmful, in breach of confidence or in any way offensive or obscene. You must not hack into service, corrupt data, cause annoyance to other users, send spam or try to affect the performance or functionality of any computer facilities of or accessed through this website.
